Right To play
Right To Play is committed to every child’s right to play. We give children a chance to become constructive participants in society, regardless of gender, disability, ethnicity, social background or religion. Through games and sports, we help create social change in communities affected by war, poverty and disease.
A team of top athletes from more than 40 countries support Right to Play. As role models, these athletes inspire children and raise awareness about Right To Play internationally. Our aim is to engage key decision-makers from the development, sport, business, media and government sectors and further ensure every child benefits from the positive power of sport and play.
Each week, more than 688,000 children take part in regular sport and play activities and a combined total of more than 1 million children attend regular programming and special sports events and festivals. This is made possible by more than 15,000 local Coaches, Teachers and Leaders

“The child is becoming more aware of their importance and place in the world. They see competencies in themselves that are developing. Before, the child didn’t know that they may have had a certain skill or talent, but through RTP games they’ve come to discover such skills and this has given them the ability to value themselves and they can better service their community.”  Right To Play Partner, Benin

The Laos Village Community Fund

“Please help us to urgently raise £10,000 to support COPE, a charity based in Laos which provides all of the prosthetic devices to the Lao people without limbs. Laos is the most heavily bombed country, per capita, in the world, with 14 out of 17 provinces affected by unexploded ordnance (UXO) left over from a “secret war” waged by the United States.
From 1964 to 1973, the US led more than 580,000 bombing missions in Laos – equating to a mission every eight minutes, 24 hours a day, over nine years – dropping more than 2 million tons of bombs and blanketing the countryside with some 270 million submunitions.
“Only two days after our last tour to Laos on the 20th February 2010 five more children were blown to pieces by cluster munitions (UXO), if this kind of tragedy happened in the Europe or the US, there’d be a national uproar,” said Dermot MacWard, Owner of Redspokes Adventure Tours and chair of The Laos Village Community Fund, LVCF.
LVCF is a UK registered charity, established in 2004 by and a group of cyclists who travelled with Redspokes through rural Laos. Inspired by their experiences, they decided to do something to help the local people who had shown them such warmth and hospitality.

The Fund provides direct financial assistance for projects that will make a difference to the quality of life of the local community. Our aim is to improve access to basic needs, such as education and fresh water. Over the years we have equipped and built two schools, completed a major water project and supported COPE. This fantastic organisation provides all of the prosthetic devices to the Lao people without limbs. This includes many people who have lost arms and legs as a result of unexploded ordinance. This year due to circumstances beyond their control they lost vital external support for materials and patient treatment support. We would like your help in raising £10,000 ($15,000), which will provide the comprehensive treatment package for 75 patients.
